TITLE: A FEARFUL HEART REVEALS A FAITHLESS MAN

DATE: TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 14TH, 2021

TEXT: ROMANS 8:14-15
(14) For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
(15) For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

KEY VERSE: 2 TIMOTHY 1:7
For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

Some people have a fearful heart. They are always afraid of one thing or the other. Some people are even afraid of lizards. They see demons in almost everything, including lizards! You are afraid of shadows. You are afraid you will die. You are afraid an evil thing will take place. So you become restless out of fear of everything around you. But hear what God is saying to you in the scriptures:

John 14:1, 27
Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.
Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

Can you see two states of that heart? Fearful and troubled heart! That scripture says, “Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” It is as if these two things relate to each other. What makes you feel troubled is because you are afraid. You are very troubled because you fear that you have caught coronavirus, even though you are free of any infection. Yet you are telling yourself, “how am I sure that in the next two weeks the symptoms will not begin to show?”

Some people are fearful of a large body of water. It is as if they will be drowned in it. You just get troubled over many things when in fact there is no cause for alarm. Your fearful heart gives you trouble and you lose your peace.  You are afraid that this sickness is going to kill you. That is why you are not smiling. The smile of a troubled heart doesn’t last. How will it last when he is troubled that he is dying tomorrow.  Everybody is laughing but you are frowning.

Somebody said fear knocked at the door and faith went to open the door but nobody was there. Naturally, anytime faith comes in fear disappears. Fear promises you everything evil, assuring you of failure, assuring you of death and bringing dreams of bad luck. But if you can rise up in faith you will not see those things again; fear will disappear and you will become peaceful. Rise up in faith and enjoy the peace of God in Jesus name. Amen.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: If you have Christ, you have no cause to fear.
