TEXT: LUKE 10:17-20
(17) And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name.
(18) And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.
(19) Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
(20) Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.
KEY VERSE: LUKE 10:18
And He said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.
Luke 10:17-20
And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name. And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven. Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and overall the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.
The devils were subject to the disciples of Christ not just because of the power Christ gave them but also because their names were written in the book of life. From here and from the life and ministry of Christ, it could be established that to overcome the powers of darkness, one has to: (1) be very sure he is born again (2) live a clean and holy life before God and men. Once these are in place, you only need to apply the A, B, C, principles:
A. Appropriate all the biblical promises to yourself.
B. Believe in the presence and power of God to deliver and defend you.
C. Claim your victory in Christ.
