TEXT: 1 Samuel 2:12-21

KEY VERSE: 1 Samuel 2:12 ‘Now the sons of Eli were sons of Belial; they knew not the Lord.’

In today’s devotional text, God described the sons of Eli this way: Now the sons of Eli were sons of Belial; they knew not the Lord. These were children of Satan. They were wicked children. They could be occultic. They were demonic and probably wizards. They did not know the Lord. How did this happen? Eli, how did you live with your children and they came to the point that Satan fully took them over? How did you live with the children that they became wizards? How did they join occultism and became members of illuminati? How did you treat them? Eli! You did not train someone to replace you, even as the high priest? You were busy so much in this work that you forgot those that will succeed you? You did not know that succession in this work requires righteousness? Why did you not give much time to these children? The Bible says, “Train up a child in the way he should go.” Did you take time to train one of your children to become a faithful high priest before the Lord?

Eli, you missed it from the beginning. You missed your early work. You were negligent. You left these children on their own and you were busy doing other things. Eli, in all your movement, you were swinging only one hand; you were not exercising the second hand. You did not know that if you left it too long it would become paralyzed? See it now! You preserved it without using it. Daddy, mummy, the child that is left to himself shall be a sorrow to you tomorrow. You left that child and whatever he wanted you gave him. You said to the child, “Take! Sleep as much as you want. Do whatever you want to do as much as you want.” No training! Whatever she cried for you say, “Oh, okay, take, take, take.” Even when she wanted to take a knife, you gave her because she was crying. You said to yourself “I had better give her the knife so that I can rest.” You may rest today but tomorrow you will wake up in tears. Do you want to present rotten children to God? Did He give them rotten to you at birth? Were they not beautiful and wonderful bundles of joy? Your children are God’s heritage, preserve them in good condition; otherwise, you will not be blameless.

Thought for the day: You are a caretaker for God over your children. Keep them undefiled.

Song for the day: Let the Lord have His way, let the Lord have His way …
