DISCIPLINE PRODUCES RIGHTEOUSNESS

TITLE: DISCIPLINE PRODUCES RIGHTEOUSNESS

DATE: TUESDAY MARCH 2, 2021

TEXT: Psalm 89:30-34

KEY VERSE: Hebrews 12:11 ‘Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.’

God says if you being evil give good things to your children, how much more would your heavenly Father (perfect and good Person), give good things to them that love Him? If earthly parents, being evil, chasten children for their pleasure, how much more God? How much more will you submit to God who chastens us for our profit? Your father is chastening you for his pleasure, but God says it is for your profit. God is saying, “If I don’t do this, you will not come to heaven.” Without obedience, how do you think you will enter heaven? This truth is what you already know and preach: “thou that teacheth others teacheth not thou thyself? Thou that sayest disobedience will take to hell, knoweth not thou that thy own disobedience will also take you to hell?” That is what God is saying to us. Is that not love? Is it not even love that preserved you until this time that you are hearing this message? What if you had died before today, it would have been presented to you as one of the reasons why you will be escorted to hell. “That we might be partakers of His holiness” (Hebrews 12:10), means this holy life needs discipline.

There can be no holiness where there is no discipline. There can be no holiness in a ministry that does not discipline its members. Ministers who don’t have others appointed by God to exercise discipline over them but want to do as they want will not see heaven. It is not everybody that can be a General Overseer because not everybody has the ability to discipline. They do it for other gains; they play with sinners among them: sinful elders, sinful leaders, sinful pastors. They have no power to discipline or rebuke them. Who called you to be a General Overseer? Who asked you to start a church? You cannot take anybody to heaven because of this your weak life. Eli, your children are not going to heaven! They lack parental discipline. They lack ministerial discipline. They are being over-pampered and not taught in the way of the Lord. How can they go to heaven? Let no man downplay discipline in the church, otherwise decay and corruption will gradually set in and many will miss out in this heavenly race.

Thought for the day: Discipline is an essential part of the holy life.
