TITLE: GOD TAKES DELIGHT IN SUFFERING FOR HIM

DATE: TUESDAY 9th NOVEMBERTEXT: Isaiah 53: 3-11

KEY VERSE: Isaiah 53: 10

Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in his hand.

Today’s scriptural text presents to us the sufferings of our Lord. He did not really live a pleasurable life. He was acquainted with grief to the left hand and to the right hand. Even in the family circles, the brothers did not believe in Him but were rather mocking Him.

At other times they were looking for Him to stone Him, to kill Him. It was not a palatable life that Jesus Christ went through. He was oppressed by men.

Today’s key verse shows that it pleased the Lord for Christ to suffer! God allowed the sufferings because of the blessings that shall follow. It is by these sufferings that the pleasure of the Lord shall be satisfied because the Lord takes pleasure in suffering.

He rewards suffering, as it is said, “God has only one child that never sinned but He has no child that never suffered.” As for sin, all have sinned, except Jesus; but for suffering, all have suffered and shall suffer, including Jesus.

God takes delight in suffering for Him. He came and exemplified it, so none is exempted from suffering for God. Since God gave up Jesus for buffeting, and gave up Job for suffering, and gave up Paul for buffeting. The Lord permits suffering for righteousness because of the great joy when the rewards are received.

God is a God of comfort because He knows what we suffer for Him. He knows the pain we are going through in life for Him. He knows the buffeting of the devil. He knows the works of satanic agents. He knows the works done against us by wicked men and women.
