TEXT: EPHESIANS 5: 3-4
(3) But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints;
(4) Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks.

KEY VERSE: 1 CORINTHIANS 6:18
Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.

There are things we must avoid as we relate with one another as brethren. These include: fornication – make sure that fornication is not mentioned once as you relate as brothers and sisters in courtship or generally in Christian life. Maybe you travel together or find yourselves somewhere together, maybe singing in the choir. As you interact in the church work or workplace, let no uncleanness be in your midst. Let nothing unclean be in your courtship to avoid immorality.

Again, avoid covetousness – Always looking for more! “Let us go to brother so and so and collect money. Brother, give me some money now.” Don’t be covetous! That’s an invitation to immorality, Give me some money. Borrow me money. Borrow you immorality! That’s what you are looking for. Immorality! Your eyes are full of immorality. Greed! Such persons are never satisfied or content but are always looking for more. They are the ones spreading immorality everywhere. The Bible says, remove your heart from covetousness. Remove your heart and mind from things that belong to other people. If you don’t have, be content with such things as you have and give yourself to prayers. God will supply your needs at the right time. There is time for everything. There is time to suffer and there is time to enjoy.

Again, filthiness- dirty speech! These are the things going on in the world. Don’t ever allow it to come out of your mouth. Don’t be talking about the private body of women. Don’t be talking about the private body of men. Don’t let filthiness come out of you in any form. Make sure you have boundaries. Maintain your bounds. Don’t mention things that will suggest immorality to the next person. Avoid filthiness and foolish talking.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Avoid making jests that are not convenient and stir up lust.
