EVERY WORD OF GOD FOR DAILY LIVING BY: PASTOR PAUL RIKA:

TITLE: MAKE ETERNAL LIFE THE CORE MESSAGE ON PULPIT – PART 1
DATE: SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 13 2021
TEXT: Luke 12:13-21
KEY VERSE: Matthew 6:33 ‘But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.’
These days, most preachers preach and teach what will give them earthly rewards and not the word that produces godliness and eternal life. They focus on minor issues and ignore the weightier matters of eternal life. That is why you find so many preachers on the pulpit but no impact in our society. So many preachers but no righteousness. So many churches but the society is groaning in pains of treachery, wickedness and injustice even by those who name themselves “Christians.” The focus of the preachers has shifted from Jesus and eternal life to miracles. They advertise their business: “Come, you will be healed. Come, you will experience deliverance. Come, God will prosper you.” All these are minor issues of Christianity. They are not weightier matters of eternal life. Healing is not a weightier matter of eternal life. Healing does not necessarily affect the heart. When a person is healed by prayer it doesn’t necessarily affect his heart. He may go back to his own sin, back to his own vomit because the heart is unfruitful. Healing is good but does not take anybody to heaven. Yet there are ministers who spend all their time on the healing ministry. They are never producing fruits unto eternal life.
Some ministers specialize on deliverance. The devil mocks at some of these churches because as one devil is being cast out of the person, another enters so it becomes a vicious cycle. They are busy casting out devils but nobody is going to heaven. They think they are achieving something but Jesus says “Woe unto you; your achievement has nothing to do with the eternal life of those people. Nothing!” It is good to prosper but it is not good to give prominence to prosperity preaching above the weightier matters of the law. You are majoring in minor because you are not preaching things that are vital to eternal life. Can a student studying Medicine leave his core subjects and get busy with History all the time and hope to have good knowledge of medicine? Can the knowledge of History treat a sick person? Why spend all the time on an optional subject while ignoring your core subjects? How much credit point do you want to have in History as a doctor? What testimony are you going to give others as a medical doctor when you say “I got an “A” in History?” What has History got to do with Medicine? You failed your core subjects and you are rejoicing in a minor one. That is a grave error!
Food for thought: Eternal life is the greatest message on pulpit.
