TITLE: MAKE ETERNAL LIFE THE CORE MESSAGE ON PULPIT – PART 2

TEXT: COLOSSIANS 1:27-29

KEY VERSE: 1 Corinthians 15:19 ‘If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.’

Prophesy is for our comfort, exhortation and edification but it is not the ultimate in Christian life because prophecy will cease. They are minor matters of the law, yet people spend their time on prophesy, manufacturing prophesies, running up and down for prophesies; but eternal life is not in it. Even sinners can give prophesies. Didn’t Pharaoh prophesy and his prophesy was right as he dreamed? Is he now in heaven because he prophesied? Are the people he prophesied to in heaven? Why then should you spend your time majoring on minor issues and you are not concerned about the matters of eternal life? You don’t bother about issues of eternal life in your ministry, but you are busy prophesying and counting your prophesies that have come to pass. Have your prophesies taken any soul to heaven?

Seed Faith is another thing they preach now. They say, ‘Give, give, try the Lord. Sow seeds, sow seeds into my life.’ Somebody gave a testimony of what the Lord did and someone else will say he has come to sow seed into that testimony. Where did they get these doctrines from? But the bottom line is that seed-sowing is bringing more money into the church. It has nothing to do with salvation from sin; nothing to do with eternal life. The sinner sows seed and remains a candidate of hell. What about anointed materials like handkerchiefs, aprons, stones, woods, water, oil, salt, clothes, shoes. Do they give heaven? When a man of God got up from a seat and you came later to sit on it because you want to tap into anointing, does that take you to heaven? Does the seat of the man of God give heaven? Does it deliver from sin? Jesus said woe unto these people, they have left weightier matters and are facing menial matters that play no significant part on eternal life.
Also, some preach denominational uniqueness. They preach how unique and special their denomination is. Does that give heaven? Does the beauty of the church structure or size of the congregation give heaven? Much attention is being paid to praise, worship and dances because that is where the members get “revived”. Without these dances they are sleeping, but nobody sleeps when it is time for dancing. They engage in dancing completion in the church to gratify the flesh. These minor issues of Christianity have become major preoccupation of the Church.

Thought for the day: Value the soul of your hearer above his possessions.

Song for the day: Revive Thy church oh Lord….

Bible reading for the day: Leviticus 18-19; Matthew 27:32-66
