TITLE: PUBLIC REBUKE IS SOME TIMES INEVITABLE

DATE: SUNDAY MARCH 28, 2021

TEXT: Proverbs 27:5-6

KEY VERSE: 1 Timothy 5:20 ‘Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear.’

Public rebuke is better than secret love for whom the Lord loveth He chasteneth. It means the Lord still has hope in you that is why He is bringing your case into the open. The Lord must have said to Himself, “He has been sleeping for too long; let Me try this other way. I tried calling but he was not hearing, so let Me bang the door. There is fire on the rooftop and I have called but these people are not hearing, let Me throw a big stone on the rooftop to tear through so that they may wake up from their deep sleep.” It is an act of love. The Lord is taking extreme measures to recover you from extreme spiritual pollution. It is an act of love! “For whom the Lord loveth He chasteneth and scourgeth every son whom He receiveth” You gave that son to the teacher to educate him; that is why beating was employed as one of the unwritten subjects of training. So the Lord scourges and His scourging sometimes can be outright cane. You must have heard some people say they just saw a cane beating them but they never saw a man or they saw only a hand. But oftentimes, it is not cane.

Whichever way scourging comes from the Lord, take it. “If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons for what son is it whom the father chasteneth not” Sometimes it will be a hard approach. Are those children that do not submit to their father’s chastisement useful? They end up as societal miscreants, good-for-nothing children. Why should you be a wayward Christian? They don’t have their father’s blessings and the God of heaven also withholds blessings from them because He promised blessings for obedience to parents. Would a father say he really loves a child when he does not correct the child? Do people in America, Europe etc. produce really obedient children when they have refused to use the cane in disciplining them? Are they not wayward children that do not know God and are not even interested in serving Him? Therefore, do not refuse discipline and rebuke in whatever form it comes because it is part of the process for your spiritual growth and stability.

Thought for the day: Public rebuke may look embarrassing but sometimes it is necessary.

Song for the day: I love that Man of Galilee, for He has done so very much for me….
