TITLE: SALVATION CAN BE LOST

DATE: FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 12 2021

TEXT: 1 Corinthians 15:1-2

KEY VERSE: Exodus 32:33 ‘And the LORD said unto Moses, Whosoever hath sinned against me, him will I blot out of my book.’

There are people who teach the false doctrine that salvation cannot be lost. According to their teaching, if somebody believes on the Lord Jesus Christ and his name enters the book of life, such a person can never miss going to heaven whatever sin he goes into committing after the profession of faith. To them, the name of a child of God that entered into the book of life cannot be blotted out. With this they give human beings license to commit every kind of sin without fear because they believe they will not miss heaven or lose eternal life. That is what they believe and teach. The early churches that teach this doctrine are called Calvinists because John Calvin was the one that propounded this false doctrine in the sixteenth century. These people follow on without proper investigation, without evaluating the conviction of their church fathers.

Majority of churches in America believe in this and it has actually affected their faith in Christ. You tell a Christian that whatever happens, whatever he does, whether she commits adultery, abortion, or leaves her husband and marries another man, as long as she had accepted Jesus previously as Lord and Saviour, she would not lose eternal life. You tell a young man that as long as he had believed on the Lord Jesus, even if he joins a secret society or he becomes a wizard and goes into killing people he will still make heaven because once a son of God, always a son of God. What would that young man do? What would that woman do? They will not have inhibition to commit atrocities. This was how Christianity was killed in America.

The people are not given to holiness and righteousness anymore because to them it is irrelevant. They believe that only those who want much reward in heaven keep to righteousness and holiness. As for entry into heaven, they believe their works of holiness and righteousness are not required. It is like telling school students that as long as they are able to gain admission into the school and their names are registered as students of that school, they will get certificate of graduation even if they decide to go back home after registration, whether they work hard for it or not; whether they attended classes or not; whether they write examinations or not; whether they pass or not. Will such students read again? But no school on earth operates this way. Similarly, heaven is not for sinners for without holiness no man shall see the Lord.

Thought for the day: Sin in your life is heaven lost.

Song for the day: Take time to be holy….

Bible reading for the day: Leviticus 14; Matthew 26:55-75
